Jack Alex Stewart- friends call him "Al"

Profession: Graphic designer/ E-learning developer

Hobbies: wild camping, investing, hiking, gaming, photography, design, cooking, travelling.

Loves: music and art related things, eating whatever Giulia cooks and travelling with Giulia.

Qualities: Sensitive and kind, creative, loving, generous, has a very good sense of direction (which Giulia doesn’t really have) and is not afraid of insects (which Giulia really hates).

Giulia Calcaterra- friends call her "Giuls"

Profession: Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Hobbies: Hiking, Camping, swimming, playing the piano, listening to all sorts of music, cooking, drawing, running, travelling.

Loves: spending quality time with friends and family and going for travelling adventures with Jack who can always find new lovely routes to explore.

Qualities: Caring and generous, organised, compassionate, creative, decisive (which Jack really isn’t) and not scared of heights (which Jack really is).

Our love story

July

Jack and Giulia had come out of quite tough long term relationships before they met. Jack worked in Lowestoft and Giulia worked at the hospital. Giulia lived in accommodation at the hospital on her own and Jack lived in a flat on his own in the city center of Norwich.

First time they met

October

Jack asked Giulia out on a date after they met through the local coach surfing community in Norwich. Jack took her to Dunston hall for the first date. Jack was running late because he went to a different stately home by mistake but it didn't matter because Giulia could not find it so she was even later.

Tough times

December

Jack was working taking some time out of employment in order to upskill himself in order to advance his career. This meant living off his savings for the start of 2019 and basically being unemployed. Some people might have left the relationship at this point but Giulia saw potential in him and stuck by him through these tough times which Jack is truly grateful for.

A long distance relationship

September

Jack moved to London for work. This meant Jack would drive back to Norwich to be with Giulia at the weekends and occasionally she would visit him which meant they could explore London and Kent together. Although they knew a long distance relation would be hard they knew they felt strongly about each other and that it would be worth making an effort for.

The pandemic

March

As the number of Coronavirus cases began to rise, it was clear the UK would be following Italy into lockdown. He didn't waste anytime waiting around and instead packed all his belongings into his car and, in one day, moved back to Norfolk to avoid getting stuck in London away from Giulia.

Moving in

May

Giulia was working at the hospital on the front line during the pandemic. As this meant she was at high risk Jack went and stayed with his brother and sister in law. Giulia actually offered to stay on longer at the hospital as it was clear they needed her and so it was not until May that she moved onto her new role at the Walk in Centre. At this point they became reunited as Jack was able to safely move back in with her.

He asked & she said yes

July

Jack and Giulia went on holiday to Scotland. Jack proposed when they were in Edinburgh after walking up Carlton Hill. They were standing behind the Dugald Stewart Monument, when Jack saw the perfect moment to pop the Big Question. He got down on one knee and she said: ``yes!``.
